I recently came across a study that state that an average American's diet has increasingly constituted the intake of added sugars, the study states that:
Quote:Caloric sweeteners are used by the food industry and consumers as ingredients in processed or prepared foods to increase the desirability of those foods. In the mid-1990s, 15.8 percent-or 359 calories a day-of the typical American's diet was composed of added sugar, an increase of more than 5 percent since the late 1970s.
The problem with such rates is that the earlier studies have proved that more the added sugars people consume, the lower will be their their levels of HDL-C, in more simpler terms "good cholesterol", and the higher will be their levels of triglycerides. This is an alarming situation and we should try to limit the intake of the added sugars as much as possible. Have you come across any thing like this? What would be your call on this?
